Women have always played a vital part of our lives and in our society. Being a woman does not make you less any better than a man. Especially right now in the midst of this pandemic, there a lot of women sacrificing their lives for being front liners. But, as we slowly recover from the teribble impacts of this pandemic, women all around the world have made a significant contribution towards our effort to end this pandemic.
Women are being recognized and empowered as role models in nations such as Germany, New Zealand, and Taiwan, among others, for effectively guiding their countries through a public health crisis. They have been praised for their quick thinking, trust in science, and capacity to make difficult judgments with understanding and compassion. As a consequence, they've been able to reduce the disease's impact on their own countries. A great example of empowered woman is the New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who has been hailed around the world for her government’s quick action on COVID-19, which has helped New Zealand avoid the mass infections and deaths that have devastated the US and Europe. Jacinda Ardern, the 39-year-old prime minister of New Zealand, is forging a path of her own. Her leadership style is one of empathy in a crisis that tempts people to fend for themselves. Her messages are clear, consistent, and somehow simultaneously sobering and soothing. And her approach isn’t just resonating with her people on an emotional level. It is also working remarkably well. Jacinda Ardern’s leadership style, focused on empathy, isn’t just resonating with her people; it’s putting the country on track for success against COVID-19.
Another example of an empowered woman is Tsai-Ing-wen who is the President of Taiwan. At the start of the pandemic, Taiwan was considered high risk for COVID-19 due to its proximity to China and the frequent travel that takes place between the two countries. Taiwanese government acted quickly to close its borders this time around. Just 11 people have died from COVID-19 in Taiwan since the pandemic began, it is very impressive considering the island never went into lockdown. Her great leadership has been widely applauded for its management of the pandemic in her country Taiwan, with one of the lowest per capita COVID-19 rates in the world.
These women are great examples of empowered women. Let them be an inspiration towards your own empowerment too. If you are a man, be inspired by these women to try and help other women. This COVID-19 pandemic proves that the power of women has not yet been fully tested, we should use it more often to help others.
